Welcome to ‘Straight from the horse’s mouth: A blog by Bella Hunting’!
I’ll start by introducing myself- My name is Bella Hunting, and I’ve just started my first semester at Griffith University undertaking Miscellaneous Study-Undergraduate. I’m originally from a little town in New South Wales called ‘Maclean’, but left straight after school to find full-time employment on the sunny Gold Coast.
After completing a four year hairdressing apprenticeship, I soon realised it was no longer my desired career choice. I have always had a passion for writing and driving business growth (from both front and back of house), so a Communication and Business degree was the perfect fit.
My plan is to ace these two subjects so I can continue on next year to start a double degree in Bachelor of Business/Bachelor of Communication. After completion, I’m looking to land my dream job working as a National Marketing/PR Manager for an Australian owned company. My goal is to make a substantial impact on the continual growth of a company I am passionate about.
Without the existence of New Communication Technologies, a career in Public Relations, Journalism and Marketing would suffer immensely. This would be due to an obvious lack of resources that are used as vital platforms for media to get their chosen message across on a global scale. These technologies are our bread and butter, not only to the media, but are cherished by and crucial to the day-to-day functioning of our generation.
I can’t even imagine my life without technology- in particular- my mobile phone. It is hard to remember when we had to wait to read the next issue of our favourite fashion magazine to know what’s on trend, when now we can just go onto Instagram (or an amazing Word press blog!). We had to write letters and physically go to friend’s houses to chat to them, now we can communicate quickly by sending them texts or posting on their Facebook wall.
I hope this blog post has given you a greater insight into what I’m all about, and I can’t wait to share with you my views and thoughts on a a variety of topics within the Communication area. I will leave you with a quote that defines my mentality for the next 4.5 years at Griffith University, ‘There is no limit to the amount of knowledge the human brain can absorb’ (Lang, S 2010)
Until next time,
